Welcome to our Table
Served with a Smile
More often than not, Meals on Wheels provides more than a healthy meal for shut-ins and those who don’t drive -- a hug and good wishes for the day often accompany the food-filled trays that are delivered five days a week by volunteers.
That’s certainly the case when veteran volunteer driver Gail Anderson brings the meals on Fridays.
Good Food and Good Karma at Our Place
If you’d like to see a moose, but are having difficulty doing so, the next best thing may be a visit to Our Place in Finland. The restaurant has perhaps the largest collection of moose memorabilia on the North Shore, including a collection of moose antlers, antler carvings and moose artwork.
Prime Cuts: Process Venison at Home
In Cook County, the biggest obstacle to taking up deer hunting is not finding a place to hunt, but what to do with your deer if you have a successful hunt. Many hunters process their venison at home. With a little preparation, so can you.
The Community of Subway
The Subway restaurant in Grand Marais is a community affair. Owners/operators Lorrie and Rob Svadlenka run the successful franchise, one of more than 35,000 in the world, just like other Subways, offering fresh sandwiches, soups, personal pizzas and breakfast sandwiches to customers who drop by. But Grand Marais is a small town and everybody knows each other, so if you’re local, there’s plenty to talk about with fellow customers when you’re there.
